Arcade Fire have announced the release date for their new, third album 'The Suburbs', the follow up to their 2007 effort 'Neon Bible', and put a pre-order up on their site. The Markus Dravs (Coldplay, James and Bjork) co-produced LP will come out on 2nd August, following a 12" version of double A-side single 'The Suburbs' / 'Month Of May', which is available from today (27th May).
Alongside the pre-order information, and what appears to be the artwork for the 12" (which you can see over there >), the band have also included a hand-written note, which says: "We're pretty much done with our new album. The homestretch! We're very excited. It's called 'The Suburbs', and it comes out on August 2nd or August 3rd depending on where you live ("check local listings" ho ho ho)."

The band will be heading over the the UK this summer in support of the release, playing Reading & Leeds Festival and Oxegen, though no other shows have been confirmed as yet.
