Lower league football FTW.

Banquet Records Sponsor Kingstonian FC Banquet Records have thrown their weight behind their local Ryman League outfit Kingstonian FC ahead of the upcoming 2008/2009 season.

The record shop aren't the first music related team sponsor (Skint Records have long worked with Brighton & Hove Albion, while Cherry Red Records sponsored the Ks in the mid 90s), but hope to combine the two outfits to their mutual benefit.

Banquet's MD Jon Tolley commented: "There are many similarities between the way both football club and the shop work. For both of us its a battle to get in punters when there are so many big boys out there competing for the bums on seats or feet on the shop floor. But we both know that what we have is not only a great product, but in each case the tradition and the community feel brought by both institutions is an important part to, not only the fans, but also the wider Kingston community."

DIY is now going to spend the entire afternoon searching the lower leagues to find a club to sponsor.
