Friendly Fires have confirmed the title of their second record, due to be released this spring, as 'Pala'.Speaking to NME, Frontman Ed Macfarlane explained that songs recorded with both Paul Epworth and Andrew Wetherall are being considered for inclusion. He also revealed Alex Frankel of Holy Ghost appears on the album.
'Pala' is named after an Adous Huxley novel, with Macfarlane's own writing for the record partly completed during a month in a remote cottage in northen France.
"I just kept working, all day and into the night," he recounted. "After three weeks I was getting cabin fever but I had to focus, because the songs needed to get written. Did I feel under pressure from the rest of the band? Yeah, just a bit."
Last year the band told ITN the album "sounds a bit more expanded, a bit bigger this time," claiming no plans to "do what MGMT did" and change their sound.
Friendly Fires are set to play this year's Great Escape festival, taking play between May 12-14.
