Arcade Fire Arcade Fire walked away with the big prize at last night's 53rd Grammys, winning Album of the Year for 'The Suburbs'.

Up against Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Eminem and Lady Antebellum, the band won after performing 'Month of May' complete with a troupe of BMX bikes. Seriously.

After accepting the prize the band played 'Ready To Start', later tweeting: "OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. Thank you EVERYONE."

It wasn't just the band themselves reacting via Twitter, either. Everyone from Kanye West ("Arcade fire!!!!!!!!!! There is hope!!! I feel like we all won when something like this happens! FUCKING AWESOME!") to Wavves ("Good. Does that mean there is actual hope for music?") and Best Coast ("Arcade Fire! So awesome.") chipped in with congratulations.

It wasn't all wins for Win and co, though. In the two other categories they received nods - Best Alternative Music Album and Best Rock Performance By a Duo or Group With Vocals - they lost out to The Black Keys.

Elsewhere Cee-Lo took Best Urban/Alternative Performance, Danger Mouse won Producer Of The Year, Them Crooked Vultures were awarded Best Hard Rock Performance, Muse walked away with Best Rock Album and The White Stripes posthumously took Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package. What a way to go out, eh Jack?
