Sister Ray, somewhere no doubt familiar to anyone who's ever done a spot of record shopping in London, or indeed ever read the small ads in the back of any late 90s music rag, has gone into administration.

London-Centric: Sister Ray In Administration
Sister Ray, somewhere no doubt familiar to anyone who's ever done a spot of record shopping in London, or indeed ever read the small ads in the back of any late 90s music rag (Are they still in there? - Ed), has gone into administration.

The well known store, found on Soho's Berwick Street, remains open despite the troubles after 20 years trading, and just last year won Music Week's 'Independent Record Shop of the Year'. However, it seems all that serious stuff on the news about, y'know, money and stuff has had a serious effect.

Ian Cadlock, one of the administrators, commented “this is a unique business with a truly global reputation and we are doing everything possible to ensure that Sister Ray is preserved for music fans worldwide”.

Recent bands to play instores include White Denim (which we filmed for DIY TV - coming soon!), We Are Scientists, Blood Red Shoes, The Maccabees and Johnny Flynn. DIY once saw The Research there. They were ace.

 Oh NOES

I love Sister Ray. If Puregroove goes under I’ll cry.
