MGMT And Of Montreal Team Up For Side Project

Blikk Fang hint at album release in 2009

MGMT Members of MGMT and Of Montreal are to team up for a new side project.

The band, named Blikk Fang features Kevin Barnes, the driving force behind Of Montreal and Andrew VanWyngarden from MGMT.

The pair streamed two tracks from the project on Pure Volume last week, however now Barnes has revealed that a full album is in the works.

Talking to Rolling Stone he said: "Me and Andrew VanWyngarden from MGMT have a project together I really want to get off the ground in 2009.”

"We've actually created about 20 minutes of music, but that was the early part of last year. We've both been travelling like crazy so it's hard to get together. The stuff we've done so far is sort of a soulful prog. It's probably gonna be a pretty schizophrenic, crazy album."

The group are also in talks with collaborator Jon Brion, who has worked with Kanye West and Elliot Smith in the past.
