Radiohead A new Radiohead album by the end of 2010? Well, that's what guitarist Ed O'Brien is after.

Speaking on 6 Music's Adam Buxton's Big Mixtape about the follow up to 2007's 'In Rainbows', O'Brien commented: “Ideally, it’d be great if it came out sometime this year. It’s got to. I hope so.”

“We’re at the studio at the moment… we’re in the heart of the record." he said, adding “the finishing line… it’s in touching distance”

“I’m really excited… I feel like this is the best record we ever made. It really is genuinely exciting. It’s very different from what we did last time.”

Thom Yorke and Phil Selway both have solo tour dates to get through this summer, but with the record likely to be completed in "a matter of weeks" (Ed's words, not ours), we're all allowed to start to get very excited indeed.

You can listen to the show, originally broadcast earlier today (Sunday 20th June), here.
