Kaiser Chiefs Kaiser Chiefs have rubbished claims they are to write the official song for England for this year's World Cup. Tabloid rumours - and quotes from the FA - had indicated that the band were favourites to perform the honour, but an official statement posted on the band's website says otherwise.

The statement reads: "We're not sure why this is all over today's press. We're flattered about these rumours regarding the England football team's World Cup song, but there's no truth in them, they are just rumours. The only writing we'll be doing in the next few months will be for our next album. We have no plans to write the England football team's World Cup song. Sorry to dispel the myth."

Other bands rumoured to be in the running are Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys.
