No, Japan hasn't turned into the biggest bunch of hipsters this side of Dalston. Sony's Walkman line is out selling the iPod in Japan, according to new numbers.Tokyo-based researchers BCN report that Sony's devices took 47.8% of the market last month, with Apple's at 44%. This is the first time Sony has outsold Apple in it's back garden since BCN began publishing it's surveys in 2001.
The figures don't include iPhone's, so are slightly deceptive. To be honest, we only wrote this up because liked the idea of Japan rocking out to c90s again. Sigh.
