An ultra-rare White Stripes 7" has sold for $18,000, according to label Third Man Records. The record, second single 'Lafayette Blues', features hand-painted artwork from Italy Records' Dave Buick (others were painted by Jack White himself), due to a printing delay.
The post cites a sale in 2003 where the first auctioned copy - they initially cost $6 at a show in Detroit - went for $800, and according to the label, they "had the pleasure of coordinating the sale of one of these singles for the stately sum of $18,000. Yes, you read that correctly... eighteen thousand United States dollars".
