Golden Glow Golden Glow is the solo project of Manchester singer/songwriter Pierre Hall.

Following a recent car accident, Pierre named his new project Golden Glow as a tribute to the band Felt and their track 'Sunlight Bathed The Golden Glow', writing songs that captured what he was living through.

Golden Glow’s debut album, 'Tender Is The Night' will be released on 21st June 2011 by by Mush Records with help from the label Bleeding Gold, who will handle a limited run of vinyl.

Jonathan Richman - 'Summer Feeling'

It's one of those melancholic songs that seeps of nostalgia. He somehow makes his childhood memories feel like of all of ours. The simplicity of it is what makes it so beautiful. You feel happy and sad at the same time.

Felt - 'Ballad of the Band'

I love the sound of this, so lo-fi, and the organ is so high in the mix. Its crazy.

The way he sings has really informed the way I do. You just work with what you have... Golden Glow is named after a Felt tune.

The lyrics are textbook-Lawrence. Frustration and insignificance. I especially like "It's all my fault, yes I'm to blame / Ain't got no money, ain't got no fame / and thats why i feel like giving in." We've all felt like that. (no pun intended).

The Velvet Underground - 'Femme Fatale'

Just because it's one of my favourite songs in the world ever. I love Nico, I love the Velvet Underground. I love the production on this.

In short: I love.

Yuck - 'Shook Down'

Probably my favourite album of the last 6 months. Just a great band writing great songs.

This is one of many favourites on the record. It reminds me of Big Star a bit, as well as Teenage Fanclub. We're playing with them in a couple of weeks. Hopefully i won't go all fanboy on them.

Actually, yeah... I definitely will.

Love - 'Andmoreagain'

There's something otherwordly about Arthur Lee. I don't know what it is, but this tune seems to encapsulate it more than others.

It's a weird mix of Bacharach classicism and almost spiritual, psychedelic imagery. It's so unique, yet so heartfelt.

I got to shake hands with the great man a year or two before he died. A great moment.

Wild Nothing - 'Bored Games'

An epic, epic tune. It's like modern day New Order, but better than that. The lyrics are wonderful. So universal, you can really feel his sincerity. I've listened to this so many times. The main refrain is insanely catchy. Mega.

Bill Callahan - 'Jim Cain'

I saw him perform about a week ago. It was one of the most heart-stopping shows I have ever been to. The guy is seriously intense. But in a good way. This is a gorgeous tune. There's something weirdly settling about his voice. It makes you feel safe. Like Morgan Freeman in Shawshank or something...Full of wisdom

Mazes - 'Cenetaph'

I've known Jack (Cooper, singer) for a while now. Played a lot of solo shows together early days. This is him at his best.

Beatleseaque-poppiness filtered through that Pavement-y fuzz. Ace. I'm glad they're doing well.
