Hanoi Janes Germany-based Hanoi Janes creates the sort of music we really like - short. Apparently he'd rather 'grab another beer' than spend ages making long-winded symphonies.

He releases his album 'Year of Panic' on 1st March via Brooklyn label Captured Tracks (Wet Dog, Spectrals, Woods), and has given us a list of tracks that have influenced him along the way to creating it.

Unfortunately most of this stuff isn't on Spotify, so you might have to do a bit more 'internet digging' if you want to listen to the whole thing.

Talking Heads - This Must Be The Place

I'm not a huge fan of the Talking Heads. David Byrnes voice kinda bugs me and the song is way too long and monotonous. In spite of all I think it's just the best song ever and anyone who tells you different is just completely full of shit.

The Fresh & Onlys - Peacock & Wing

Is there a sweeter way to say that you want to be with someone?

Beach Boys - Girl Don't Tell Me

I love how he sings the line "Your hair's getting longer 'n' your shorts, Mmm, they sure fit you fine" and sounds like a complete pervert. Priceless. And then it's so cute when he's trying to be mean and tells the girl "I'll forget you when i go back to school". Ha, as if she would care.

Razorcuts - I Heard You The First Time

This is actually a pretty rare track. It sounds dreamy, faggy and totally cool at the same time. I just fell for it.

Toy Love - Photographs Of Naked Ladies

It's a bit sad and a bit creepy. Kinda reminds me of our bass player, just kidding. It's about porn too, so what more could you ask for? In my opinion the Toy Love LP is simply one of the best pop records out there.

The Soft Boys - I Wanna Destroy You

Did you ever want to take all your rage and anger and wrap it up in an adorable pop melody? There you go.

The Modern Lovers - Government Center

I'd love to see this one come true. I picture secretaries dancing on their desks in front of the city hall and making confetti out of important documents. I also love how there's always a hint of frustration under all the naive happiness.

Sonny & The Sunsets - Too Young To Burn

Extremely laid back and always gets me in a good mood. I don't know how often I fell asleep in front of my record player listening to this LP after a night of drinking.

Trio - Sunday You Need Love

A gem of true german romance. Listen carefully dudes, this song will teach you some basics for any stable relationship.
