Rolo Tomassi Rolo Tomassi are releasing their Diplo-produced new album ‘Cosmology’ on 19th April through Hassle Records.

James Spence (synth, vocals) - having just got back from the band's support tour with Biffy Clyro - has given us his Soundtrack to 2010 so far, featuring the likes of Owen Pallett, Errors and These New Puritans. Take it away, James!

"I think 2010 has been an absolutely AWESOME year for music so far with a lot of bands I really like releasing new material and some new discoveries being made along the way. I think the most exciting thing is that it's still on May. So the below are a list of my favourite tracks from 2010 so far."

Foals - This Orient

After they put 'Spanish Sahara' online I didn't know what to expect from the single 'This Orient' but after a few listens got really into it. I recently saw them play it and many of their other new tracks live and they were exceptionally good. Definitely check out their new record 'Total Life Forever'.

These New Puritans - We Want War

I was a big fan of their debut album and was blown away by this as the first single from their new record. A really bold step forward. The string section at the end is intense!

Daughters - The Hit

New album and new direction again for Daughters. In the past I've struggled to listen to their albums in full but with their new self titled record thats all changed. Played it on repeat for several days. 'The Hit' is a fine example of what they're doing.

Biffy Clyro - Bubbles

Touring with Biffy has made me realize what an absolute pop song writing beast they are! Their set is just hit after hit and this new track released during the tour is a perfect example of what they do best. The cheeky 7/8 part at the end rules.

Owen Pallett - Lewis Takes His Shirt Off

Owen Pallett (or Final Fantasy as he was calling himself last year) at Union Chapel was one of, if not my favourite show from last year. His skill and innovation as a musician is unrivaled as far as I'm concerned. His ability to craft melodic songs that are as technically proficient as they are memorable is an inspiration.

Fang Island - Daisy

A friend introduced me to Fang Island last weekend and their debut album is astounding! They use similar guitar tones to Tera Melos and sort of remind me of Late Of The Pier but only in the sense of making big sounding songs. They describe the sound of their band as 'everyone high fiving everyone' and I couldn't agree more. So posi!

Jaga Jazzist - Bananfluer Overalt

I'm a big fan of their 2005 album 'What We Must' and thought this band were inactive until I was in Brighton earlier this year and found their new record 'One Armed Bandit'. It rules.

Errors - Supertribe

We've done a few shows with these guys and they recently put out a new album 'Come Down With Me'. Amazing title and a great record.

Trash Talk - Hash Wednesday

Our recent tour mates new record 'Eyes & Nines' is unreal. They opened with this track when we were playing with them and it destroys. One of, if not, the best hardcore bands in the world right now.

Crime In Stereo - Type One

I'd kind of written off Crime In Stereo as an indentikit modern emo band but their new record 'I Was Trying To Describe You To Someone' has completely proved me wrong. Really inventive post hardcore and catchy as hell.
