Safari

The band's favourite cities - where they love playing, and where they'd love to visit.

Safari Safari are gearing up to release their new single, ‘So I See’, via East London's This Playground Records on 7th March. The track - along with b-side 'Lost' - is taken from their debut album, due later in the year.

In preparation for the forthcoming coinciding tour, the Hertfordshire boys have put together a soundtrack for us featuring all their favourite cities - where they love playing, and where they'd love to visit.

Luckily for them, it looks as though they get to put another couple of ticks in the 'London' box on their March dates:

MARCH
02 The Horn, St Albans
04 Camden Barfly, London
08 Barhouse Chelmsford
10 Old Blue Last, London (single launch)
12 Stereo, Glasgow
13 Sneaky Pete’s, Edinburgh

Robots In Disguise - I Live In Berlin

We recently played in the bohemian maze that is Berlin. This song is the perfect noise based metaphor for the quirky, disjointed, somewhat messy fun we had whilst there.

LCD Soundsystem - New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down

LCD Soundsystem have too many good songs to dance too, so we admire this song for its contrast to their normal pace. It also sheds light to how some things are not all they are cracked up to be. Should have gone with Frank Sinatra's 'New York New York' maybe!?

Foals - Miami

I doubt this song has much to do with Miami. But the video, with its Aphex Twin windowlicker- esque qualities, seems to be all about it. It should put you off visiting such a place... Perhaps we should have gone for Will Smiths Version?

The Kills - M.E.X.I.C.O

After reading Jack Keruacs 'On The Road', Mexico City has been on the Hit List. This song is as energetic and crazy as Keruac describes it. We want to check that out.

Ladyhawke - Paris Is Burning

It is said this song is about a crazy weekend spent partying with the artist Soku. The chorus is infectious. And only heightens our ambitions to play here and fullow suit.

Crystal Fighters - I Love London (80kidz Remix)

Pure and simple. We love London. We love this remix.

Magnetic Man - Flying Into Tokyo

As the intro into a great album, this song manages to create emotion without the need for lyrics. For now I can only imagine this is what it feels like to be arriving in one of the most famous Cities in the world. We'll let you know if those Magnetic Men are telling the truth.

Peter Bjorn And John - Amsterdam

A song about the loneliness of man whilst his love disappears to Amsterdam. Just as catchy as 'Young Kids'. We haven’t lost any of our own loves to the city, but maybe absence does make the heart grow fonder.

Phoenix - Rome

Ok so perhaps this song is not so much about Rome as a city. But it is an amazing song. And to lyrically compare a failed relationship to the fall of the Roman Empire is something only Pheonix could do so well. Hopefully one day we will visit here without the Love Drama.
