So So Modern

We're sure you're all really excited, but there's still a full week before you can get your hands on their new album. Don't fear, though - you can listen to this Soundtrack the band have put together for us now.

So So Modern So So Modern release their new album 'Crude Futures' next week, on 1st March via Transgressive (hasn't that come around quickly?).

We're sure you're all really excited, but as we said, there's still a full week before you can get your hands on it. Don't fear, though - if it's all getting a bit too much you can watch the video for their new single 'The Worst Is Yet To Come' right now, and you can listen to this Soundtrack the band have put together for us, too.

They actually gave us twelve tracks in total, but we can only fit ten in our Soundtracks, so we've cut a couple out - add in David Bowie 'Ashes to Ashes' and Le Savy Fav 'Pots and Pans' if you want the full set. Here we go:

"When on the road, the van's music selection is usually based on the logic of 'lowest common denominator' decision making. This usually means that playlists are chosen based on nostalgia trips, stay-awake-ness, channel surfing, and straight up bad taste. Every now and then a good song will be played to reflect the mood and sensibility of the tour."

Arrested Development - Mr. Wendal

Sunshine and conscious hip hop in the morning makes us all feel good. Maybe it's that funky beat, or that signature 90s female wail of empowerment. We just redistributed some of our food rider to a homeless Bordeaux man begging at the traffic lights. It's the real world all right.

ESG - Erase You

Perfect for an instant party in small confinements.

The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows

A transcendent musical experience and a sweet drum beat to match. You can zone out to this song, or you can get pumped on it too.

Neu! - Weissensee

Flow and liquidity come to mind with this song - which makes good for reimagining the Autobahn as an endless waterway.

Woody Guthrie - Pastures of Plenty

A beautiful homage to the land, and to modern nomadism.

The Mint Chicks - Red, White or Blue

"Why is it less or a hassle to die in your sleep?" are the opening lines for their brilliant album. Friends from New Zealand, and friends of good music.

Toe - tremelo + delay

Noodley guitars, and noodley drums. As if Sunny Day Real Estate met Tortoise.

Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence

Silence really is golden. Stillness in a van. Telepathic communication on stage.

Zombie Zombie - Psychic Harmonia 2

Another driving song from this French duo. All the best to them!

My Disco - Young

A new song by the masters of the one note song. Restraint and transcendence - these guys actually pull it off.
