StereoHeroes
French producing duo StereoHeroes tell us about the music they grew up with.
Because Music (because.tv) will be releasing a compilation on 13th July entitled 'Edges - A New French Electronic Revolution', featuring a range of up and coming French producers such as Breakbot, Spitzer and Mondkopf (you can download it here).
We've managed to grab a few of the producers who feature on the record to recommend some music to us. Next up, we've got StereoHeroes.
Michael Jackson - Bad
Sebastien: As far as I can remember this was the first CD I bought. Today, I really can understand why so many people around the world are sad. We lost one of the greatest. His music is in some ways the soundtrack of my life.RZA aka Bobby Digital - Digital Bullet
Fabrice: Big hip hop slap and huge respect for RZA. I listened to this CD for three months in a row in my car which never happened before or since. In my opinion one of the best hip hop albums ever and a great inspiration.Depeche Mode - Violator
Sebastien: This also was one of my first CD's. I can remember I tried to introduce every 9/10 years old kids of my school to DM. They really didn't liked it. Depeche Mode is still now one of my favorite bands. They always found the way to evolve, they never sounded cheap or obsolete. I think they've been my first synthetic music love.LFO - Frequencies
Fabrice: Their sound was really different compared to what I could like in electronic music at a certain point of my life. I think they really developped a new style of music. Something unic and virgin, a new path. This band gave me the envy to go further in this style and this album clearly marked a step in my vision of electronic music.AC/DC - The Razors Edge
Sebastien: My first AC/DC CD ! Whatever happened in my life, I always listened to them, collecting every piece of their work. Three weeks ago I was at their concert in Paris, almost 15 years after seeing them for the first time, the energy was exactly the same. They are the best Rock and Roll band in activity. Stop.Mr. OIZO - Moustache
Fabrice: His work is remarkable to my eyes. His producing style is so atypical. Mr Oizo is unic, he knows how to push every limit which is really something nowadays in electronic music. What I love in this CD too is when I heard it for the first time I thinked it was just useless, I really had to get used to it, it was so different. Flat Beat stuned me too when it first came out. Often imitated with no success.Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion
Sebastien: This CD was the first heavy metal intrusion in my life. It determined many of my teenage years. Made me discover the screaming guitars and the energy of hard rock. After this CD I've really been into hard and harder rock for a long time alongside with techno music. It leads me to Metallica's music for example, I could have picked 'Kill'em All' or 'Master of Puppets' too.Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine
Fabrice: This band's music is the perfect fusion of styles. A great period. I used to crawl the streets with their tunes in my walkman.Laurent Garnier - 30
Sebastien: Laurent Garnier is my electronic music god. The best DJ in the world, no possible discussion. And after he made me become crazy on a dancefloor and I knew seeing him that I wanted to be a DJ, his original productions were my first vynils records. Tracks like Crispy Bacon or Flashback are timeless bangers, but I could quote many other killing songs from him.The Psycho Realm - Psycho Realm
Fabrice: Hip hop again, damn good I think. Everything is huge in this album and nothing is useless: big featurings, hiting vocals, a really particular underground atmosphere. Wouldn't change anything. A real period in my musical world too, I never found again this energy somewhere else in hip hop.
