(Though, they do seem to like Queen rather a lot...)
Soul Asylum - Runaway Train
Our new single is the sequel to this song. Has absolutely nothing to do with this song but thought it would be good to write a sequel to it. You guys heard of Soul Asylum over there? Couldn't escape it in the early nineties alternative MTV.Queen - Another One Bites The Dust
I had a party once that was billed as a dance endurance contest - you stopped dancing even for a couple of seconds and you were disqualified. The twist was that the song was Another One Bites The Dust over and over again for eternity. The competition lasted 5 and half hours until the cops came and shut it down at 4:30am. There were still seven people dancing. Aside from that song being permanently embedded in my brain for life after that, it's on my mind right now because I sang it for karaoke last night. It's a very popular night probably because the dj plays mind-ripping saxophone and cowbell and sings excellent backing vocals in addition to constantly mixing each song. You have to wait an hour or two to get to sing because it's so popular. And he only plays songs that flow well. It's never in the order of who turned in what. I was trying to do Hall and Oates and my friend told me to turn in Another Bites The Dust because I turned it in a while back and it was literally the next song while everyone else were waiting hours to sing songs. So I turned it in and five minutes later he called my name. Jammed it. TO THE BONE.David Bowie - Let's Dance & Modern Love
Two other dudes did these songs at said karaoke jam nite and ruled it. Our drummer Yoshi RULED This Charming Man out of nowhere, but come on, the Smiths have nothing to do with Still Flyin'.Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense
Let's get real. This is what any band should aspire to. The holy grail of jams.Elmer Bernstein - Ghostbusters
Pretty good score. Sometimes Brendude plays it in the van on tour.Ray Parker Jr. - Ghostbusters Theme Song
The ultimate theme song? Sometimes it plays in my mind uncontrollably.Huey Lewis & The News - I Want A New Drug
Can't talk up Ghostbusters without acknowledging where it came from. They wanted Huey to do a song for Ghostbusters and he refused so they just got a total rip off song and got sued. There are many other Huey jams that are better than this one but this is still a classic.Huey Lewis & The News - Pineapple Express
This song isn't that jammin' but I LOVE it on principal. Why don't more people get him to make soundtrack songs? He would have been good for the Hangover.Rod Stewart - Young Turks
We covered this once and it was so good the crowd made us do it twice in a row. There was no other way around it. I love this song. Maybe I can convince the rest of the band to do it again... and again and again and again.
