Ash - Petrol

This was the inspiration behind many a teenage garage jam. My band at school did loads of Ash covers and I'm pretty sure I've still not shaken off the influence from my guitar playing. This is no bad thing.

Clinic - Distortions

I remember putting this on a mixtape for Raa when we were 16 with some of the lyrics type written on the cover I made. I was pretty good at making covers for my mixtapes.

Belle and Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister LP

I've been listening to Belle & Sebastian ever since I first heard this record coming through the wall between me and my sisters room. Get Me Away From Here I'm Dying is the perfect song to listen to on your headphones when your trying to ignore all the comments from the snobs at school but this whole record is brilliant. Were trying to do some stuff like this album with some new recordings we're doing, complete with stylophone solo's and everything.

Young Marble Giants - Colossal Youth LP

I love this record, its still very modern sounding, I'd love to be able to do something so minimal and do it this well.

The Delgados - Under Canvas Under Wraps

My friend Sam (who makes our music videos) first played this to me when we were runners together at a TV post house making lunches for people like Nicky Campbell. He always ordered the soup and the meat special. He liked an awful lot of baguette with his soup. Seriously, he sent it back once asking for more and we'd already given him 5 pieces or something.

Talking Heads - (Nothing But) Flowers

This whole list could have been Talking Heads songs but this is the one we're listening to most at the moment. As if Talking Heads weren't already good enough, this one features Kirsty MacColl on backing vocals and Johnny Marr on guitar and its as good as you imagine that to be.
