The first official image of Stephen Amell (Hung) as the Green Arrow has been released by the CW.
Amell plays Oliver Queen, the former billionaire playboy turned superhero in the TV pilot Arrow. According to Deadline, Queen spends five years marooned on a remote island, returning with a set of new skills that he puts to good use in his fight against crime.
The new suit has been designed by Tim Burton favourite Colleen Atwood (Snow White and The Huntsman). Director of the pilot David Nutter (The X-Files) said of Atwood's efforts, "we're creating a real, believable world in which Oliver Queen can do incredible things. Colleen Atwood's great work on the Arrow costume reflects that effort."
Nutter also directed the pilot of Smallville, a show which previously also featured Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley). On the subject of Smallville Nutter had this to say, "when I directed the pilot for Smallville, I knew that making Clark Kent relatable would be the key to audiences believing in him as a hero. Arrow is a different show, darker and harder-edged, but it's the same core idea."
Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg will executive produce along with Nutter for Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions.
