John Barrowman: Captain Jack Return ‘Already Discussed’ John Barrowman has revealed the return of Captain Jack Harkness to Doctor Who has "already been discussed".

The character first appeared in Doctor Who during it's comeback series in 2005, and returned periodically under the reign of then show runner Russel T. Davies. Since Steven Moffat (who originally wrote Captain Jack in 'The Empty Child) took over, however, Barrowman hasn't featured in the show.

Speaking to Zap2it, Barrowman claimed a return is "in the cards, but who knows whether it will happen?"

"I've always said that if I'm asked to go back to Doctor Who, I'll go at the drop of a hat. That's where Captain Jack got his beginnings."

Showrunner Moffat has previously insisted he would "love to have him [Jack] back."

"In my head there is a continuing story," Moffat explained. "There's no idea that we're abandoning anything. There is an element that The Doctor moves on from people in a rather scary but inevitable way. He won't be nearby forever."

Barrowman will reprise his role as Captain Jack in Torchwood: Miracle Day, which is set to air next month on BBC One in the UK and Starz in the US.
