Lost star Titus Welliver is to star in NBC pilot Midnight Sun.
TV Line report that the new thriller is based on Pillars of Smoke, an Israeli television series.
Revolving around a cult-like commune that reside in Alaska - the Midnight Sun of the title - and a female FBI cult specialist who arrives to investigate when members of the cult mysteriously disappear but she soon uncovers a larger conspiracy.
Welliver has been tapped to play the charismatic and manipulative leader of the group with Lisa Zwerling (The Event, FlashForward) writing the show .
Welliver is best known as Lost's enigmatic Man in Black and as the IRA villain of Sons of Anarchy's third Season. He was most recently seen in the pilot of Kiefer Sutherland's latest hit series, Touch.
