Brace yourselves for the greatest 1 minute 7 seconds of video on the net - the latest trailer for Season 2 of Game Of Thrones.

Airing an hour ago on US Television screens the new trailer is HBO's latest tease in what is sure to be a long and exciting marketing campaign until the first episode is broadcast on April 1st.

The highly anticipated return to Westeros sees the land in the throes of war as Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) and his brother Renly (Gethin Anthony) both lay claim to Iron Throne and Robb Stark (Richard Madden) continues on his quest to destroy the Lannisters and gain vengence for the death of his father Lord Eddard Stark (Sean Bean). Across the water Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen seeks her rightful claim as Queen while other noble families plot their way to Iron Throne.

Those familar with the second book in George R.R. Martins sprawling fantasy series will know precisely what delights await us in Season 2 and the latest teaser gives a tantalising taste of new characters as well as our old favourites. Showing glimpses of, amongst others, probably the most punchable little git on TV, Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) and his campaign to humiliate and degrade poor Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), Stannis and his creepy Priestess Melisandre (Carice van Houten) and Peter Dinklage in his Emmy and Golden Globe award winning role as the new Hand of The King, Tyrion Lannister. We also catch a moment of Daenerys making a chilling promise to claim her throne.

If there's one thing fans of author George R.R. Martin can rely upon is that the great man is unafraid to write the unexpected and have you rethink your opinion of some characters.

As Varys so eloquently puts it to Tyrion in the teaser below, "a very small man can cast a very large shadow."
