Sex And The City Prequel Gets A Director

Miguel Arteta signs on for The Carrie Diaries pilot.

Cedar Rapids and Youth In Revolt director Miguel Arteta is on board to direct and executive produce the pilot The Carrie Diaries for The CW according to Deadline.

The Carrie Diaries is a prequel to Sex and The City and will depict Carrie Bradshaw and her exploits as a teenager in the 80's. Based on the novel by Sex and The City creator Candace Bushnell, The Carrie Diaries will show us exactly what brings Carrie to New York City.

Sarah Jessica Parker played the adult Carrie in the original series and in the two feature films. No casting has been announced for the prequel yet.

Amy Harris (Sex and The City, Gossip Girl) is handling script duties and will be executive producing along with Bushnell, Josh Schwartz (Chuck, Gossip Girl), Stephanie Savage (The O.C, Hart of Dixie) and Len Goldstein (Hart of Dixie).

Arteta has a long list of TV credits including stints on Enlighted, The Big C and the "Rubber Man" episode of American Horror Story.
