Deadline report that David Lyons (The Cape) will take over the role vacated by Twilight star Billy Burke in a new drama pilot from J.J. Abrams (Lost) and Eric Kripke (Supernatural).
Burke was originally down to play the role of the charismatic Marine Bass but he has now been promoted to tackle the lead role of Miles.
The untitled show centres around a group of survivors from a world where all forms of energy have ceased to exist.
Iron Man and Cowboys and Aliens director Jon Favreau will direct the pilot.
Joining Burke and Lyons will be Maria Howell (The Vampire Diaries) who takes on the supporting role of Grace, described as "regal and fiercely intelligent."
Lyons is best known for his stint in the Australian drama Sea Patrol and for his time on ER as Doctor Simon Brenner. He was most recently the lead in superhero TV series The Cape opposite Summer Glau (Firefly) and Keith David (Cloud Atlas).
