Animal Collective - Summertime Clothes
Fresh from Glastonbury, Animal Collective release their second single from utterly adored LP 'Merriweather Post Pavillion'. It's reported to be "warm" and "infectious" by the PR people, somewhat like something you might catch in the festival toilets.
In a similar vein, this is a record that grows on you in a fashion vaguely resembling that of mould. What begins as a mild dislike can transform into complete awe in just a few listens. Honest. It's funky and chirpy with hints of MGMT and similar euphoric, electro-pop delights. The lyrics are pleasant enough and the vocals almost float past you unnoticed.
This is a festival floor-filler without a shadow of a doubt. Completely encompassing every aspect of British festivals, from the dreary, rainy intro to the pounding bass hangovers and the mildly displaced, half-way hallucinating vocals. We're all over this new release like a rash.
