Cloud Nothings - Should Have

Cloud Nothings - Should Have
Single Reviews

Extremely catchy lo-fi guitar music full of hooks and repetition.

Label: Wichita
Released: 21st January 2011
Reviewer: Linda Martin
January is a month traditionally infested with acts that are predicted to make it big in the New Year, and a band that seems to be particularly contagious this season is Cloud Nothings.

Centred around 19-year-old Dylan Baldi, they impressed last year with a compelling compilation of tracks that were initially released on cassette (how 2010!) and a rather amazing single counting no less than four tracks, rocketing them to the top of the ever growing group of snotty young kids that I love despite them being much younger than me (with the ‘snotty’ comment mainly reflecting my jealousy at the fact that at their age my biggest accomplishment was passing my driving test third time round).

With this particular single they continue exactly where they left off with ‘Leave You Forever’: making extremely catchy lo-fi guitar music full of hooks and repetition. You needn’t listen to more than half the track for it to earworm its way into your brain - I dare you to put this on and not spend the rest of the day humming "I always knew I’d follow you".
