Everything Everything - My Kz Ur Bf

Single Reviews

More than your average four-piece indie band.

Polydor, 19th August 2010 / By Nia Thomas
Everything Everything - My Kz Ur Bf While at the beginning of the year according to various ‘lists’ the scene in Manchester was supposedly alive with the sound of Delphic’s quite good, if a bit dull, geeky indie synth, and Hurts’ suited disco lento (and of course Liam Gallagher’s, ahem, Beady Eye), it may have taken the pressure off Everything Everything to be something that was somehow expected of them. They haven’t toned anything down and are here to prove that they are more than your average four-piece indie band.

'My Kz Ur Bf' is jittery and synth-driven with plenty of snare and it’s about infidelity and the thrill of getting caught, which sort of explains the text-speak title, although the lyrics are often incomprehensible thanks to all the falsetto, not that it matters as long as you can join in with the “like woah”. It’s incredibly catchy and so different from a lot of bands that are around at the moment that it’s also a great introduction for anyone who haven’t heard them until now.
