Famy - Dogg Dogg

Famy - Dogg Dogg
First OnSingle Reviews

FAMY will prove to be popular. The question is, with such a specific shtick, for how long?

Label: FIFI Records
Released: 12th December 2011

Listening to Famy’s single ‘Dogg Dogg’, the first thing that springs to mind is that they're much like a less angst ridden, more soulful and delicate version of Wu Lyf. It’s obvious that the band has taken heaps of inspiration from the Mancunians, and they’re not ashamed of it.

‘Dogg Dogg’ slowly builds up with ethereal vocals, a haunting organ line and blissful harmonies, as they reach their peak with belligerent drums, drop again to a melodic guitar riff and organ undertones, then rise again with a tambourine accompanying.

Many may be deterred by the strong comparisons to Wu Lyf, since there’s an uncanny resemblance, but there’s room for both: FAMY will prove to be popular. The question is, with such a specific shtick, for how long?
Rating: 6/10
