Florence Welch has an intriguing talent. She possesses a voice of supreme strength, which even when she sings with an almost nonchalant style contains much ferocity and vigour. Her eccentricities are clear throughout the song, clipping in and out of her intense aggression to mellow soothing vocals before returning with a spark. This is continued by the Machine’s sublime mandolin, flute and simplistic clapping before a sudden crescendo into an epic drawn-out accompaniment with an intrusive and relentless drum beat. ‘Dog Days Are Over’ is incredibly entertaining and furthermore a complete storm of a song. Florence plays with this song, exerting a huge energy. It is a wonderfully spiritual joyous four minutes that will never fail to impress. Nothing can possibly control Florence & The Machine. She is capable and likely to achieve a lot in the future.
