Foe - Cold Hard Rock

Foe - Cold Hard Rock
First OnSingle Reviews

The near perfect articulation of broken romance and winter blues.

Label: Mercury Records
Released: 6th January 2012
Reviewer: Ben Ross
As the single released just before a debut LP, Foe's 'Cold Hard Rock' is a masterful slice of enchanting melancholy.

Once again she proficiently crafts her enchanting despondent-alt-rock. From the progressive drums, to the harshness in Hannah Clarke’s signature delivery, the pensive lyrics themselves, and the near mandatory first class production, this is Foe at her finest. It is, as the title suggests, four and a half minutes of enthralling bleakness. Whilst lacking somewhat in the fervour and aggression of previous outings, 'Cold Hard Rock' is just as bitterly raw.

As a single it is the near perfect articulation of broken romance and winter blues. If this is even the slightest indication of what is to be expected of debut LP, 'Bad Dream Hotline', then we’re all in for a real treat.
