It is the same song that everyone knows and loves so is there really any point in re-releasing it?

Friendly Fires – Paris Back in the days of 2007 the release of 'Paris' through the independent label Moshi Moshi was without a doubt a major reason for Friendly Fires’ current popularity. It introduced many for the first time to the joys of Friendly Fires’ positively clattered synth-pop. This time around it is as brilliant as ever. It still sounds absolutely fresh, certainly helped by the tropical syncopated percussion and the insistent guitars leading towards the triumphant and sweet chorus.

'Paris' is an intriguing song and its success has brought a lot to Friendly Fires. This is, however, not the first time that it has been released and it does go without saying, why is this being re-released? Is it for the pockets of the executives at XL? It is the same song that everyone knows and loves so is there really any point in re-releasing it? Only time will tell. Rating: 7/10
