Joan As Police Woman - Holiday

Single Reviews

Laid back beats recline over a loose, rolling melody.

PIAS, 22nd September 2008 / By Becky Ross
Joan As Police Woman - Holiday Joan As Police Woman has enjoyed a very successful musical year; her massively applauded album ‘To Survive’ has been wowing listeners from Abergavenny to Aberdeen, and she’s held crowds spellbound with her hypnotic melodies at the coolest of music festivals across the UK.

‘Holiday’ is the latest single to be released from the album and it’s a corker. Laid back beats recline over a loose, rolling melody, like Air hosting the most suave cocktail party ever. It’s a song (and singer) totally at ease with itself, and projecting all the assured self confidence that goes with this sensation. And – perhaps best of all - it’s as blissfully removed from Madonna’s sickly bubblegum pop track of the same name as you could possibly imagine.

If McFly are the musical equivalent of a jelly trifle served at kids’ party, Joan As Police Woman is the lightest, most delicate prize-winning Crème Brulee you’ll ever consume. One to be savoured.
