Most people even vaguely familiar with Johnny Flynn will know that the demo for this track has been floating around for about an age. However, since that was laid to tape Mr Flynn has been backed up by a full band.

The off-kilter folksyness becomes, in the hands of The Sussex Wit, an altogether different beast, introducing a violin to the mix, and adding a country twang to the previously gently plucked acoustic. The chorus kicks in nicely, laid over beat that it's darned near impossible not to tap a foot along to. "Pray for the people inside your head, they won't be there when you're dead", he sings. What he's on about here is anyone's guess but he clearly means it and the vocals get more powerful towards the tracks climax.

While 'Tickle Me Pink' doesn't fall down anywhere, it's appeal is going to remain limited, and with the strings being somewhat grating it isn't accessible enough to ensure a more widespread appeal of this particular brand of indie-folk. Rating: 7/10
