Single Reviews

Important points to note in pop: always, always, add the sound of a creaking door to your singles. Laugh all you want, but it's this stroke of genius that makes 'Heartbreaker' one of the singles of the year.

Think about it for a second. Yeah, the chorus is utterly amazing, and musically 'Heartbreaker' literally oozes cool, but the first time you pressed the little play button on some Hype Machine linked rip, it's [i[that noise that had you coming back for more, just to work out what the hell was going on. Trust us; we know.

Ignoring that, an incomparable bass line, smart percussion and memory hogging vocal mean that Metronomy may be on the verge of becoming a mainstream concern. Who needs WD40 anyway?
