Upbeat and quirky with a Southern feel, the new single from Noah and the Whale mixes summer sounds and nice messages to give you that warm feeling inside.

Noah and the Whale are one of those bands that I never know quite where to place. They change with each venture (and I say venture because they did that film, remember?) Every time it's a little bit different. But in a good way. At least, this time it's a good way.

Like an old fashioned road trip anthem or a feel good film soundtrack, L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N. is full of big sounds, choirs and simple lyrics, and topped off with a sugar glazed donut for added sweetness.

Naughty but nice, this track is an excellent introduction to their new record, and a sweet treat for fans and first time listeners alike. Don't look too deeply or you'll ruin it. This record is not one for the repeat button but is a 'grower' nevertheless; a real winter warmer. Rating: 8/10
