The earnest vocals give the intro to 'Black Morning' the feel of an Elbow offcut, however once the beat and keyboards kick in properly it comes on more like The Presets. It begs the question, apart from having an amazing name, what are Post War Years?

Well they're rather damn good, and pretty hypnotic too. In the same way as LCD Soundsystem's 'All My Friends' lulls you in to a trance for the entire song, 'Black Morning''s keys and bass captivate for the bulk of this recording. The verses are somewhat slower than the chorus, but the appearance of handclaps more than makes up for this. After all, since when does a bad song feature handclaps?!

Up until the three-and-a-half minute mark, where it all goes a little too cheesy on us, the vocals sounding like a mid-90s dance classic, Post War Years have us fooled. Either way, while 'Black Morning' is likely to pose more questions about what the hell the band are trying to do than it will answer, it's most certainly worth a listen or two. Rating: 7/10
