Silversun Pickups - There’s No Secrets This Year
Single ReviewsFairly intense for a band that have previously been described as ‘dreampop’.

You’d have a tough time finding a harder working band than Silversun Pickups. Taking only a month off after a 2 year tour of their acclaimed debut 'Carnavas', the LA based quartet jumped straight into a 14 month writing and recording schedule to produce their sophomore album, 'Swoon'.Already receiving rave reviews, 'Swoon'’s first offering is in the form of the aggressive 'There’s No Secrets This Year'. Containing lyrics which ask the listener, ‘how many ways do [we] want to die?’, 'No Secrets' seems fairly intense for a band that have previously been described as ‘dreampop’.
The powerful guitar and hard-hitting lyrics shatter our rose-tinted raybans and cause us to see Silversun Pickups in a new light. An interesting twist is introduced at the 5 minute mark when a more dreamy, whimsical tone is established; a tactic that keeps the listeners’ interest and prevents the epic 5 and a half minute creation from becoming boring.
Having just finished a short stint of gigs in London and a performance at Coachella, the band are jumping straight back into another heavy touring schedule; a habit that looks set to pay-off.
