The Boy Least Likely To - Every Goliath Has Its David

The Boy Least Likely To - Every Goliath Has Its David
Single Reviews

Soft strums of an acoustic guitar and a plodding drum beat.

The Boy Least Likely To are a band that, on paper, shouldn't appeal to anyone but tiny, innocent children. Their single covers are adorned with cartoons, their videos are cuter than a paparazzi snap of Nick Jonas walking an Andrex puppy, and they have a penchant for the tambourine. Then again, how could we possibly hate a band so adorable?

'Every Goliath Has Its David' is a gentle anthem for the shy and frightened, and the music fits the subject matter like a cosy woolen glove. In fact, the song relies solely on soft strums of an acoustic guitar and a plodding drum beat - and with lyrics such as [I]"I might be small but I'm not a coward" to accompany them, the simplicity of the song seems apt.

The real genius of The Boy Least Likely To, though, come in the subtle nods to a less naive existence we can all relate to. As singer Jof Owen sings "there's nothing courageous about anything I do", it's clear that 'Every Goliath Has Its David' isn't so childlike after all.
