2010 brought brilliant albums aplenty but perhaps one of the most overlooked was The Cast Of Cheers’ ‘Chariot.’ Released entirely free, it was an album that had no label or press support but sent the internet apeshit nonetheless. Not bad for a band that hadn’t even played a live show at that point, eh? Their talent would soon pay off though. They’re supporting Blood Red Shoes on their upcoming tour and ex-Clor man Luke Smith has even declared himself a big fan. Smith is so much of a fan in fact that he’s taken the production seat on their upcoming album and his imprint is clearly visible on lead single ‘Family'.

Centered around an urgent, mechanical guitar riff not too dissimilar from the goofiness of Smith’s old project, ‘Family’ thumps with the same jagged, robotic rhythms of Foals’ ‘Antidotes’ whilst adding a hint of the dance floor-punk that made Bloc Party’s ‘Silent Alarm’ so brilliant. Vocally, Adams’ bark is just as exhilarating as Yannis Phillappakis’. “The floor keeps spinning and they all want more,” he howls. He’s hit the nail right on the head there. Give us more indeed!
