The Coral - Being Somebody Else

Single Reviews

After listening to it several times, it's hard to remember exactly what it sounds like.

Deltasonic, 08th September 2008 / By Stephen Ackroyd
The Coral - Being Somebody Else The Coral are fairly unique as a band. They've been around for what seems like forever, despite the fact that they're yet to make it to a decade of releases, hovering around the mainstream gaining praise far and wide, but never getting close to being really bloody big. If Supergrass are everyone's second favourite, it seems to most these Liverpudlians are 'alright' (BAD PUN ALERT! - Ed).

'Being Somebody Else' kind of continues the trend. Sitting after listening to it several times, it's hard to remember exactly what it sounds like, yet while it's in your ears it's enjoyable enough; good even. Acoustically driven, full of heart warming, cosy harmonies and a subtlety few bands can achieve; it's certainly not chasing any current fads, but then it's hardly pulling up trees either.

As you were then. The Coral - decent enough, but pulses remain unmoved.
