The Leisure Society - The Last Of The Melting Snow

Single Reviews

One of the most unfashionable yet brilliant sounding records we have heard in a long time.

The Leisure Society - The Last Of The Melting Snow This is one of the most unfashionable yet brilliant sounding records we have heard in a long time. Stripped to the very basics, 'The Last Of The Melting Snow' still manages to sound elegant and orchestral, relying on the warm double tracked vocals for its intimacy and depth.

Echoes of Simon and Garfunkel and early Neil Young spring to mind but this is to sell this haunting and original little tune short. Apparently the man responsible is Nick Hemming from quality shoegazer act The Telescopes most recently known for the beguiling Dead Mans shoes soundtrack.

Mark Radcliffe made it single of the week and that’s generally a good enough recommendation for anyone, but the added bonus is that the B side is even better.
