The Leisure Society - You Could Keep Me Talking

The Leisure Society - You Could Keep Me Talking
Single Reviews

A completely British affair, there's no mistaking this for anything other than a Leisure Society song.

Label: Full Time Hobby
Released: 10th July 2011
Reviewer: Alan Bryant
The Leisure Society first came onto most listeners radars with the release of their debut album 'The Sheeper' in 2009. That record went on to receive a nomination for the Ivor Novello prize, and led to the band being dubbed as the British equivalent to Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes. Now two years on and they turn up with their second effort 'Into The Murky Water', and the second single from that record, 'You Could Keep Me Talking'.

So what has changed?

Well, not a whole lot. It is still a completely British affair and there is certainly no mistaking this for anything other than a Leisure Society song, with Nick Hemming's vocal as strong as ever. Yet that is no bad thing, after all why fix what isn't broken? What they have done is enhanced on their trademark sound. Warm vocal harmonies are scattered thoroughout and the beefed up string arrangement culminates into an extremely catchy fanfare hook which brings the song to life.

No the lyrics may not be particularly advanced or profound, but if you're after a truly catchy pop song to put a smile on your face then you may well have just found exactly what you need.
