The Shortwave Set - Now Til ‘69

Single Reviews

An all out pop song that's not really pop at all.

Wall Of Sound, 4th August 2008 / By Stephen Ackroyd
The Shortwave Set - Now Til ‘69 Most bands would kill to be able to stick the 'produced by Danger Mouse' tag on their record. Given his track record, it's the kind of thing that you'd expect to eat up the column inches, and yet nowhere near enough people (i.e. not everyone) have paid attention to the second album from The Shortwave Set.

'Now Til 69', the second single to be lifted from the South London trio's latest long player swirls around with a touch of psychedelia and summery pop sensibilities. An all out pop song that's not really pop at all, the verse could well be the chorus, and the chorus the verse - it's the whole track that sticks in the mind.

In the spirit of web 2.0, one comment on YouTube suggest it's 'like if Phil Oakey and Brian Eno joined Abba for a day.' That sums it up as well as we ever could.
