Vampire Weekend - A Punk

Vampire Weekend - A Punk
Single Reviews

What you have is the Vampire Weekend equation for a perfectly formed pop song.

Label: XL Recordings
Released: 27th October 2008
Reviewer: Ben Tyrer
Take one part post-Strokes guitar line, multiply by 'Graceland' and add Ezra’s infectious chant of ‘Eh eh eh’ and what you have is the Vampire Weekend equation for a perfectly formed pop song, and one of the best songs the band has released to date.

Of course you, being a DIY reader, already knew this. With an album packed to gills with songs as good ('M83' or 'Walcott' or 'Campus'...), you really have to question why 'A-Punk' should get the nod again, and when you start to only cynical reasons come to mind, like the fact it’s been cropping in commercials. However, if you've missed the hype thus far, and lord knows how you managed to, this is an effective, if incredibly superficial, place to start.
