Flats Announce Debut Album Details

Flats have unveiled details regarding the release of their debut album 'Better Living'.

Self produced and recorded in their own Hackney studio, the band's debut will be released on the 30th April through Sweatshop Records / One Little Indian.

The record features twelve tracks, which you can find listed below.

Zulu Winter will release their new single 'We Should Be Swimming' on the 27th February.

The single is the follow-up to their debut release ‘Never Leave’/ ‘Let’s Move Back To Front’, which was released on Double Denim back in November, whilst this is their first release through PIAS Records.

Outfit Share New Track, ‘Dashing In Passing’

Outfit have celebrated this Wednesday 8th February 2012 by releasing a brand-new track!

The new song, 'Dashing In Passing', is available to listen and stream at the bottom of this very page.

Debut EP 'Another Night's Dreams Reach Earth Again' is out in April on The Sounds Of Sweet Nothing.

'Dashing In Passing' is the band's second single, after 'Two Islands' was released by Double Denim.

Cold War Kids Unveil New Video, Release Free Download

The vid is the first to unveil the band's latest addition - new guitarist, Dann Gallucci.

Singer Nathan Willett told Rolling Stone:

"[Director] Tim Cahill had this vision for the video, and we let him at it."

Tim Cahill: pretty damn good midfielder and director, it seems. A man of many talents.

Explosions In The Sky Announce Tour Dates

Explosions In The Sky have announced a flurry of live dates set for later this year.

Amongst the dates are festival slots at the Porto leg of Primavera Sound, the Sasquatch Music Festival in Washington state and Finland's Ruisrock 2012.

Before these summer shows however, the instrumental outfit will play a full North American tour stretching across the entire month of April.

Explosions will also play Coachella in the middle of all that, so if you managed to afford a ticket - lucky you!

Recent Pictures Music signing Bobby Champs (see DIY's First On profile here) has backed up his first offering, 'All Night', with another fine late-night techno effort.

Taken from an EP of the same name, 'Moonlight' combines warped synths with shifting bass rhythms and near-whispered vocal samples.

The EP comes out on 20th February. Here's the tracklist:

Premiere: Safari Debut T.G.H.L.V.E Remix Of New Single

Safari's new double A-side single ‘Doubt' / 'Are We Ready’ is due for release on 27th February, via Sons Of Stereo Recordings.

To celebrate, they've had a few remixes made - and you can hear the T.G.H.L.V.E version of 'Doubt' below.

The Hertfordshire five piece also have a video for the single, which you can check out on thisissafari.co.uk now.

The release follows on from previous singles 'So I See’ and 'Quicksand', which both came out through This Playground Records.

'Sweet Sour' is the new single and title-track from their forthcoming new record. Watch the clip above.

Band Of Skulls' new album 'Sweet Sour' is set for release on the 20th February.

On the record, bassist Emma Richardson told DIY:

"I think everyone needs a bit of isolation now and again to get down to things and that’s no different for a band to write things either."

She continued:

"We’ve had time to reflect on the earlier material and we’ve carved off all the unnecessary parts that we felt didn’t work or weren’t needed and therefore everything sounds that little bit tighter."

But here's the brilliant new video from Kindness for 'Gee Up', where the artist elsewhere known as Adam Bainbridge gets a bit satirical and self-mocking.

First there's the decision of what clothes to wear, then there's the lo-fi feel vid that's revealed to be filmed by an entire film crew (complete with a French art-house director) and that's not just it - there's even some faux-behind-the-scenes footage of the band plugging their own record.

Exclusive: Graham Coxon Previews Album ‘A+E’ With New Track ‘Truth’

Anyone who pays attention to DIY's various feeds and social media accounts over the past couple of weeks will have noticed we've been getting more than slightly excited about the most recent album from Graham Coxon, so we're happy - nay, delighted - to be able to bring you an exclusive taste in the form of a track from said full length, 'Truth'.

Returning to Parlophone, the ex Blur guitarist will release 'A+E', the follow up to the critically acclaimed, acoustic driven 'The Spinning Top', on April 2nd. Coxon describes the album as: “Improvisations, experiments in beats, rhythms. A chance to uninhibitedly make some sort of perversely sad, danceable and funny and despondent songs.” Adding “I didn’t want to get caught up in my usual struggle with trying to make things sound really posh. I didn’t want lovely 60s-sounding drums and valves.”

We describe it as "a bit of alright", or possibly "bloody brilliant".

Laurel Collective Announce New Single, UK Tour, London Residency

Laurel Collective have announced new single 'They Hate Me' (which you can stream below), also revealing dates for their forthcoming UK tour.

The track is the first to be taken from their upcoming debut album 'Heartbeat Underground'.

The band will tour throughout March and April, with a London residency at Hoxton's Electricity Showrooms.

Laurel Collective will also stop off in Leeds, Manchester, Reading and Sheffield.

This Many Boyfriends Release New Single, Tour With The Cribs

Leeds group This Many Boyfriends have unveiled their new single 'Starling', ahead of hitting the road on tour with The Cribs and Allo Darlin'.

The single is to be released with an exclusive limited fanzine, while the consecutive tours will run through Feb and March.

‘Starling’ will be available to buy on 20th February through Angular Recording Corporation. You can stream it below.

The band suffered tragedy last year when former guitarist Peter Sykes died of a sudden brain haemorrhage.

Odd Future Set Mixtape Date, Earl Sweatshirt Not Featured

Tyler, The Creator has revealed details regarding Odd Future's new mixtape.

The compilation, entitled 'OF Tape Vol 2', was formerly thought to drop in March but now it's been revealed that it'll be released on 20th February.

The leader of the rap collective took to Twitter to discuss the new release:

"OFTAPEVOL2. IN STORES ON THE 20TH!!!!! ALL NEW SHIT FROM ME FRANK HODGY LEFTBRAIN DOMO MIKE G AND UH… HOPEFULLY… YA KNOW."

Despite this last hinting remark, turns out that the elusive OF member Earl Sweatshirt will not in fact feature however.

Tyler added:

"Sweatshirt Will Not Be On The Tape. Not Trolling Either."

Plan B Announces New Album And Film

British rapper Plan B has announced details of his forthcoming album 'iLL Manors', set for release via Atlantic Records on 7th May.

It is the follow-up to hugely-successful predecessor 'The Defamation of Strickland Banks', which earned the singer many accolades and plaudits including a BRIT Award.

Plan B said of the upcoming album:

"You could call 'iLL Manors' "bass-line, soul, hip-hop." The album has the lyrical depth of my first record but the musical composition is light years ahead as it's informed by everything I've learnt in the last five years - writing, producing and playing with a live band. I feel I'm better than I've ever been."

The album will be preceded by an accompanying full length motion picture, released on 4th May - written and directed by Plan B himself.

This year's acts for The Parklife Weekender have been announced, with Flaming Lips, Justice and Dizzee Rascal among the headliners.

All Time Low Writing New Record

All Time Low have revealed that they are working on a new record.

Speaking to NME, the group stated that they're halfway through writing their follow-up to 2011's 'Dirty Work'.

Singer Alex Gaskarth said:

"I'm about halfway through the writing process for the next record. We got back from tour and I realised that I just had so much to say. I shut myself in a studio and wrote about nine songs. I'd like to write another 10 or 11 when we get back next time."

All Time Low recently were forced to cancel their DJ set at the Face Down club night, along with a signing at Kingston's Banquet Records.

The band have just come to the end of their latest UK tour, with singer Alex Gaskarth has been placed on voice rest.

Pure Love Start Work On Debut Album

Ahead of their first official show as a group, Pure Love have announced that they're heading into the studio shortly to record their first record.

The duo - made up of ex-Gallows frontman Frank Carter and Jim Carroll - have started working with legendary producer Gil Norton, and will return home to Brooklyn shortly to begin laying tracks down.

The release is scheduled for late summer 2012 and you can watch a video of the pair in the studio below.

Pure Love will play their first show at Bush Hall on 14th February, as part of the NME Awards Shows.

Tellison Announce New Single, Tour, DIY Show Tickets On Sale

Tellison will tour the UK this summer and will release a brand new single in April, they've announced.

The London four-piece, who released latest album 'The Wages Of Fear' last summer, will play eight dates across the UK in May.

They'll be releasing 'Freud Links The Teeth And The Heart', taken from their last album, on 30th April - and the track will be backed with two brand new songs as B-sides.

The band will start their tour in Andover on 3rd May, before playing Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Middlesborough and Birmingam throughout the month. They'll then finish the run of dates for DIY in London - playing at The Garage on 8th May with The Bots, Stagecoach and an as-of-yet unannounced special guest.

Josh T Pearson, Beth Jeans Houghton To Play Apple Cart Festival

London's Apple Cart Festival have added a whole host of new acts to their bill, ready for the event this summer.

The likes of Adam Ant, Josh T. Pearson, Beth Jeans Houghton, Gilles Peterson, Inner City and Scritti Politti have all been confirmed.

The festival - an all-round arts affair put on by those people behind Field Day - was founded last year, with the likes of Patrick Wolf and Magic Numbers among the music acts. There were also comedy tents, art and even magic.

This time round, the Apple Cart Fest takes place on Sunday 3th June at London’s Victoria Park. Tickets can be bought on their official site.

Best Coast, Arctic Monkeys Play Metallica Festival

What do The Arctic Monkeys and Best Coast have in common? Not a lot, you'd think. But it seems like metal giants Metallica are fans of both. I know, pretty weird right?

But the thrash legends have unveiled plans for their own festival this summer, announcing the first acts to be Arctic Monkeys and Best Coast.

The Gaslight Anthem have also been confirmed for the event.

The festival, billed as the 'Orion Music + More' festival, will take place on June 23 and 24 in Bader Field, New Jersey.

A new raft of bands set to play this year's Bestival have been announced.

Revealed by organiser and Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank via his Twitter account this morning, the full line up so far will be published on a new website for the festival later today (8th February).

The xx are set to play the Isle of Wight based event in the second from top slot on the Friday as a UK Festival Exclusive. They'l be joined by another Bestival only act in the form of Sigur Ros, The Horrors, Azlealia Banks and Spiritualized.

Elsewhere other acts include Two Door Cinema Club, Soulwax, Nero, Emeli Sande, Warpaint, De La Soul, Major Lazer, Sister Sledge, Innter City, Gary Numan, Michael Kiwnauka, Sub Focus, DOOM, Rizzle Kicks, Cuban Brothers, Buraka Son Sistema, Earth Wind & Fire, Bellowhead, Little Dragon, Gold Panda, Lianne La Havas, Adam Ant, Delilah, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Chas & Dave, Dub Pistols, Ane Brun, Jeff Lewis, Charlie XCX, Field Music, Frankie Rose, Milagres, Liz Green, 2:54, Gabrielle Aplin, Gecko and King Krule.

The B-side to Jack White's forthcoming solo single 'Love Interruption', titled 'Machine Gun Silhouette', has appeared online.

White confirmed details of the release of his debut solo album 'Blunderbuss' last week. The White Stripes' frontman looks set to release his debut on the 23rd April through Third Man Records/ XL Recordings.

White himself has described 'Blunderbuss' as "an album I couldn't have released until now. I've put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas."
